FC Goa revamps foreign contingent with five overseas signings for ISL 2026-27
On September 21, 2026, FC Goa announced a wholesale rebuild of their foreign contingent ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, adding five overseas players: four Spaniards and one Argentine. Head coach Gouramangi Singh faces the task of integrating the new arrivals into the senior squad.
FC Goa finished 7th in the ISL 2025-26 campaign and have entered a new chapter under Gouramangi Singh after a number of foreign players left following the club’s Super Cup triumph in November 2025. Those departures left only Dražić and Pol Moreno in the squad for the 2025-26 season, an exit that the club described as bringing an end to an era that had delivered silverware and memorable performances. The recruitment drive aims to rebuild an overseas core capable of fitting into Goa’s established playing identity.
The club’s overseas rebuild centres on Francisco ‘Franchu’ Feuillassier, the first signing of the window. The 28-year-old Argentine joins from Kerala Blasters and carries experience from Real Madrid’s academy, where he made his senior debut in the Copa del Rey, as well as spells at Fuenlabrada, Eibar and Cartagena in Spain and stints with Hungary’s Diósgyőri and Cyprus’ Karmiotissa. Franchu is described as technically gifted and creative in the final third, with tactical versatility to play as a No.10 or from either flank, offering Goa multiple attacking deployment options.
FC Goa have also signed Spanish defensive midfielder Álex Vallejo, a 34-year-old with experience across Spain, England, Cyprus, Poland and Hungary, including time at Huddersfield Town and Diósgyőri. Vallejo is noted for calmness on the ball, positional awareness and experience protecting the back line; the club says he can operate as a holding midfielder or drop into the defensive line to provide tactical variety. Goa expect Vallejo to help provide balance when their attacking players move forward.
At centre-back and in attack Goa added two more Spaniards: Álex Zalaya and Christian ‘Chiki’ Isabel. Zalaya, 28, arrives from Racing Ferrol after a career in Spain that includes Sporting Gijón B, UE Cornellà, Barcelona Atlètic, Real Murcia, Atlético Baleares and Ourense; the club highlights his reading of the game, aerial strength and composure in possession. Chiki, 29, joined from FC Cartagena and brings movement, work rate and an ability to combine with teammates; he can lead the line or drift wide to create space for runners.
Jorge Ortiz Mendoza has returned to FC Goa on a one-year deal, signing on September 5, 2026, after spells with Shenzhen Peng City and Mumbai City. Ortiz previously scored 16 goals for Goa during his 2020–2022 stint and is expected to add directness and creativity to the final third, with the ability to operate from either flank or centrally; his prior time at the club could help him settle into the squad quickly.
