Ferran Torres has been withdrawn from Spain’s national team ahead of UEFA Nations League matches against Czechia and Croatia, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on October 3, 2026. The forward will return to Paris for further medical assessment and will not take part in the upcoming fixtures.

Torres joined the Spain camp following a strong start to the season with Paris Saint-Germain, where he has scored seven goals in six games and earned a nomination for Ligue 1’s Player of the Month award in September. He also scored Spain’s World Cup-winning goal against Argentina in the FIFA World Cup 2026. His club form prompted his selection for the current international window.

The RFEF said Torres has been withdrawn because of ongoing pain in his left ankle; the issue had not prevented him from training or playing but persistent symptoms prompted the decision. Head coach Luis de la Fuente agreed to release the forward from the squad to prioritise his recovery, the federation added.

RFEF medical staff have been in regular contact with PSG’s medical team since the start of the international camp, and both sides are monitoring his condition, the federation said. Torres will return to PSG for medical testing to determine the extent of the problem and to provide a clearer timetable for any treatment or recovery.

Carlos Espí has been called up to replace Torres in the Spain squad.

The timing of Torres’s withdrawal is notable given his recent scoring run for PSG. Attention now turns to Paris, where PSG will evaluate his ankle and decide on any subsequent steps regarding his availability and treatment.
