Five former RCB players feature in CPL 2026

Five former Royal Challengers Bengaluru players — Moeen Ali, Quinton de Kock, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph and Wanindu Hasaranga — are taking part in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 in the Caribbean; the tournament began on August 7.

The CPL 2026 has assembled international names familiar from the Indian Premier League and the SA20 across seven franchises, pairing those overseas stars with Caribbean talent and drawing notable attention. Several participants in this edition have either previously represented IPL franchises or continue to do so.

Moeen Ali represented RCB between 2018 and 2020, appearing in 17 innings and scoring 309 runs at an average of 20.60 with a strike rate of 158.46, while also claiming 10 wickets for RCB at an economy of 7.13. He is captaining the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in CPL 2026 and has contributed 42 runs at a strike rate of 150 and one wicket.

Quinton de Kock is playing for the Barbados Tridents in CPL 2026, scoring 80 runs in two innings at a strike rate of 200. He featured for RCB in the 2018 season, making 201 runs in eight innings at an average of 25.12, and across an IPL career spanning over a decade has accumulated 3,441 runs; the report adds he is often referred to as one of the finest overseas batters in the history of the IPL and contributed significantly to Mumbai Indians.

Shimron Hetmyer has returned to the Guyana Amazon Warriors and produced a 49 off 19 balls in a match against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. In the IPL he has scored 1,560 runs across 94 matches, with the bulk of that success coming for Rajasthan Royals, and he made his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2019, finishing that season with 90 runs from five matches including a maiden half-century.

Alzarri Joseph has not featured in the IPL over the past two seasons and his last IPL franchise was Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2024; he played three games for RCB in that campaign and took one wicket. Representing the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons in CPL 2026, Joseph has claimed eight wickets in six games.

Wanindu Hasaranga is appearing for the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots this season and has taken two wickets in CPL 2026; he played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru between 2021 and 2023 and picked up 35 wickets in 26 matches across those three seasons.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first IPL title in 2025, and the Caribbean Premier League was inaugurated on July 30, 2013.
