The preview, courtesy : SEGA, Sports Interactive, arrives after a poorly received Football Manager 26 that disappointed both fans and developers, and it was launched into an environment of low expectations. Early testers report noticeable improvements compared with FM26, yet many users say the game still requires further fixes before the full release. The most commonly cited upgrade is a more organised overall interface.
Navigation changes include a new bar with sections such as Portal and Squad, which testers say simplifies menu movement. The preview also supplies more immediate football coverage within the game, displaying transfer news, league tables and other results without navigating through multiple menus.
Customization has been expanded: users can modify news feeds, match statistics and other UI elements to their preference. In-match presentation has been adjusted so that almost all strategic options appear on a single screen, which players find makes tactical adjustments quicker to execute.
Several interface problems persist, however. Criticisms focus on the default colour palette and font choices, which some players say make menus hard to read and can cause eye strain during extended play. Testers also describe the interface as cluttered and say routine tasks require too many clicks.
Performance and visual fidelity drew further complaint: the 3D match engine is reported unable to deliver smooth animations even on high-end PCs, with highlights described as choppy. Player models were characterised as dated and regenerated faces were judged to fall short of modern expectations.
Core gameplay systems show little change in the preview; player presentations, AI transfer behaviour, team talks, press conferences and reputation mechanics remain repetitive and are described as needing significant overhaul. Reviewers also say the managerial side of the game has not been substantially enhanced, despite what many fans perceive as a development focus on that area.
The free Launch Preview runs through 3rd November, giving players a limited window to test FM27 ahead of release, and many participants believe additional improvements and fixes are still necessary before the game ships.
