Former WWE star Saurav Gurjar arrested in Hyderabad after sexual exploitation complaint
Former WWE star and Indian actor Saurav Gurjar was arrested in Hyderabad after police traced him to Mumbai, where he was intercepted at Mumbai airport on the night of September 17 in connection with a complaint filed by a 29-year-old woman alleging cheating and harassment following promises of marriage.
The woman approached Gachibowli police on August 15, accusing Gurjar of promising to marry her and assuring she would receive rights similar to those of a wife while also alleging physical and emotional harassment during their relationship. She said the two first connected on Instagram in 2021, developed a closer relationship on WhatsApp and met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021. According to her complaint, the relationship continued while she lived in the United States and after she returned to India.
The complainant alleged Gurjar persuaded her to leave her job in the US by promising they would start a business together and that the situation later affected her ability to focus on work. She said that when she raised the subject of marriage he would block her phone number and distance himself. The complaint states Gurjar lived with her from October 2025 to March 2026 and that, after returning to Hyderabad and continuing to stay with her, he left suddenly without informing her.
Gachibowli police registered a case against Gurjar under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means, and opened an investigation into the allegations. Authorities issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) and began tracing Gurjar’s movements as part of the inquiry.
“We also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. On the night of September 17, he was intercepted by immigration officials at Mumbai airport when he arrived from the Middle East.” Gachibowli inspector K Saidulu said. Police detained Gurjar at the airport, brought him to Hyderabad, produced him before a magistrate and he was remanded to 14 days in judicial custody.
Gurjar signed with WWE in 2018 and joined the NXT roster in 2020; he was rebranded as Sanga in 2022 and promoted to the main roster, joining the Raw brand in 2023. His final in-ring appearance for WWE came during the April 2024 André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
The Hyderabad police said the investigation will examine the alleged promise of marriage, their relationship and the other claims made in the complaint; the matter remains under legal review.
