Formula 1 unveils 2027 calendar with 24 Grands Prix and 10 Sprint events, Monaco among hosts
Formula 1 and the FIA unveiled the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar on September 16, 2026, announcing 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and a record 10 Sprint events. The World Motor Sport Council approved the schedule, which mixes established venues and returns to several markets.
The championship will span five continents and brings back Portugal and Türkiye to the rota, while increasing Sprint weekends from six in 2026 to ten in 2027. Since the Sprint format began in 2021, data cited by the sport shows total viewership for Sprint weekends is 12% higher than non-Sprint weekends; Sprint Qualifying is up to three times more popular with fans than Free Practice, 82% of attendees at Sprint weekends say it adds value to their ticket, and 75% of F1 fans believe Sprint events add greater value to a season’s calendar.
The season will begin in the Middle East before moving through key early rounds, with Bahrain followed by Saudi Arabia, then races in Australia, Japan and China, and the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix. The European portion of the season will include the Monaco Grand Prix and a return to Portugal in June.
Türkiye will rejoin the calendar in October and is scheduled between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix. The latter stages of the season will then move through a series of events in the Americas.
The closing phase features Grands Prix in Austin, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and Las Vegas, leading into the final two rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. The schedule groups historic circuits and major global destinations to form the full 24-race season.
Sprint weekends will expand to include first-time Sprint hosts Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco, and Abu Dhabi, while Sprint events will return to Montreal, Silverstone, Monza, Sao Paulo and Lusail. Monaco will stage two qualifying sessions as part of its Sprint weekend on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo.

The 2027 Formula 1 season is scheduled to begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 14, 2027; pre-season testing is scheduled to take place in Bahrain from February 24-27, 2027.
