Four clubs remain unbeaten across Europe’s top five leagues in 2026-27 season

Four clubs — AS Roma, Lazio, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich — entered the 2026-27 season unbeaten across Europe’s top five leagues, and none of the sides are based in the Premier League or LaLiga.
Historically, clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern Munich have compiled large point totals without completing an unbeaten campaign, and recent results saw Inter Milan lose to neighbours AC Milan while FC Barcelona were beaten by Real Madrid in El Clásico. The four remaining undefeated teams are split between Italy’s Serie A and the German Bundesliga, and the article examines each side’s situation.
AS Roma have not won the Serie A title in 25 years. In 2010 Claudio Ranieri got the closest, battling Mourinho’s Inter all the way before losing the title. So far this season Roma have played ten games, drawn three and won seven.
Atalanta have been noted for entertaining football under Gian Piero Gasperini, but Gasperini has never won a Scudetto. The club’s stylistic reputation under the coach is mentioned alongside the title histories being discussed.
After his terrible tenure as Italy’s manager, Gennaro Gattuso has recovered remarkably. Lazio have won nine of their first ten Serie A games this season after winning all of their preseason friendlies. Their campaign included a 3-0 away victory over Juventus.
Borussia Dortmund began the season with five straight victories. Jurgen Klopp last guided them to the Bundesliga championship in 2012. At the time of reporting, Dortmund were on equal points with Bayern Munich.
Bayern Munich, the Bundesliga champions, remained unbeaten. They scored seven goals against Union Berlin and six against Leipzig, were held goalless by Schalke and were held by Augsburg.
Those four clubs — two from Serie A and two from the Bundesliga — are the only teams still unbeaten in Europe’s top five leagues during the 2026-27 season.
