Four players with 4,000 Test runs and 350 Test wickets, led by Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja reached his 350th Test wicket during the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle, becoming the most recent member of a quartet of cricketers who have scored more than 4,000 runs and taken at least 350 wickets in Test cricket. He joined Kapil Dev, Ian Botham and Daniel Vettori in achieving that double.
In the 147-year history of Test cricket, mastering both batting and bowling to a high standard has been rare, with many greats specialising in one discipline. The game has produced legendary all-rounders such as Jacques Kallis, Imran Khan and Garry Sobers, yet only four players have combined more than 4,000 runs with at least 350 Test wickets. Two of those four are from the Indian team.
Kapil Dev stands out on the list as both the highest run-scorer and the leading wicket-taker among the quartet: he was the first to surpass Richard Hadlee’s former record for most Test wickets and finished his career with 434 scalps. Dev played Tests from 1978 to 1994, appearing in 131 matches and scoring 5,248 runs, including eight centuries.
Daniel Vettori made his Test debut in 1997 as an 18-year-old and began his career as a left-arm orthodox spinner before developing as a middle-order batter. He captained New Zealand during the latter part of his career, scored 4,531 Test runs with six centuries and 23 half-centuries, and in 113 Tests took 362 wickets with 20 five-wicket hauls.
Ian Botham’s Test career spanned from 1977 to 1992, a 15-year period in which he established himself as a leading fast-bowling all-rounder for England. In 102 Tests he scored 5,200 runs, including 14 centuries, and claimed 383 wickets with 27 five-wicket hauls.
Playing the 90th match of his Test career, Ravindra Jadeja has accumulated 4,108 runs with five centuries and evolved from being known as a defensive left-arm spinner into a player regarded as a valuable match winner in the longest format. He is noted in the source for his accuracy and high arm drift, and the material states he holds the No. 1 ICC ranking as a Test all-rounder.
Ravindra Jadeja and Kapil Dev are the two Indian players who have reached the mark of 4,000 Test runs and 350 Test wickets.
