Gachchhatu wins K.T. Shamaiah Gowda Memorial Trophy at Mysuru

Gachchhatu won the K.T. Shamaiah Gowda Memorial Trophy (1,400m) at Mysuru on Thursday, Sept. 17, taking the feature race at the September 17 meeting.

Race organisers had positioned a false rail, approximately 6 metres wide from the 1,600m mark to the winning post; the feature was scheduled as a rated 60 & above contest to be run at 4:00 p.m. Gachchhatu had been described in advance as well prepared and expected to score in the event.

The 12-runner field named for the K.T. Shamaiah Gowda Memorial Trophy comprised: Perfect Blend (10) — S. Finishing order in the feature was: 1 Gachchhatu, 2 Power Of Beauty, 3 Lux Aeterna.

The opening contest, the Kasargod Plate (Div. II) over 1,200m (rated 00 to 25) run at 2:00 p.m., featured a dozen runners including King D (12) — Ayaz Khan 61 and N R I Jetpower (7) — Md. Talib 57.5; the placed finishers were 1 N R I JETPOWER, 2 LORVEN’S GLORY, 3 DR COLCHESTER.

The Fair Wood Plate (1,200m) for maiden 3-y-o only at 2:30 p.m. produced Garzian (7) — Vinod Shinde 54.5 as the winner, with Sindoor (1) — Antony 54.5 second and Como (5) — Akshay K 54.5 third. In the Kasargod Plate (Div. I) over 1,200m at 3:00 p.m., Dasadyu (6) — Srinath 61.5 finished first ahead of Glowing Moonlight and Majestic Lancer.

Other results at the Mysuru meeting included the Police Trophy (1,400m, rated 40 to 65) at 3:30 p.m., won by Cloudy Hills with Ultimate Blues second and Bluemed third; the Castle Bridge Plate (1,600m, rated 40 to 65) at 4:30 p.m., won by Sassy Sarah with Zephyrine second and Doctor Dolly third; and the Fleet Indian Plate (1,200m, rated 20 to 45) at 5:00 p.m., won by Excellent Warrior with Lords Grace second and Bomber Jet third.
