Getafe submit formal offer to sign free agent Jadon Sancho

Spanish side Getafe have made a formal offer to sign former Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho, the BBC reported on 15 October 2026. The 26-year-old is a free agent after his contract expired in the summer and is weighing several options.
An agreement is said to be complicated, with Sancho reportedly favouring a move away from England while remaining open to all options. Getafe, who sit 14th in La Liga, are also competing in the Europa Conference League this season and have expressed a desire to resolve the situation.
Earlier this week former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal, who had been without a club after his Bernabeu deal expired in June, joined Getafe on a free transfer. The 34-year-old Spain right-back, who won 27 trophies with Madrid including six Champions League titles, has signed a contract until June 2027.
Sancho spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery's side secured Champions League qualification and Europa League success; he came on as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg, his third European final in three seasons.
During his five years at Manchester United Sancho also had loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea. His move to Stamford Bridge in the 2024-25 campaign included an obligation to buy, but Chelsea paid a £5m penalty to return Sancho to Old Trafford after he made 41 appearances.
While searching for a new club Sancho has posted training videos to his Instagram external account and visited non-league side Flixton, who issued a statement saying, "Jadon was not on trial with the club."
Getafe remain keen to find a resolution to the transfer and discussions are ongoing, with Sancho reported to be open to offers despite a preference to move abroad.
