Gill's 223* steers India to 406/2 chase in Guwahati in second ODI

Shubman Gill's unbeaten 223 off 133 balls anchored India as they reached 406/2 in 43.3 overs to complete the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati on Wednesday. India won by eight wickets with 39 balls to spare after the West Indies posted 405/7, their highest ODI total.

Gill reached his double century in 117 balls, registering what the source describes as the fastest 200 in ODI cricket, and finished on 223*, the third-highest individual score in men's ODIs behind Rohit Sharma's 264 and Martin Guptill's 237*. He became only the second batter after Rohit to record multiple ODI double hundreds.

Gill's 223* raised his total to 333 runs across his last two ODI innings, following the 110 he scored in the first match of the series. That 333-run aggregate ranks as the second-highest by a batter across two consecutive ODI innings, behind Martin Guptill's 342 in 2015.
