Glasgow and Ulster draw 33-33 at Scotstoun in United Rugby Championship on 3 October 2026

Glasgow Warriors and Ulster shared the points in a 33-33 draw at Scotstoun in the United Rugby Championship on 3 October 2026, with Glasgow's George Horne seeing a late penalty come back off the upright. The match finished level after a frenetic second half that saw both teams reduced to 13 players at different stages.
Ulster led 19-14 at half-time and had been aiming for their first win in Glasgow in more than five years. The visitors lost Jacob Stockdale in the warm-up, a late withdrawal that prevented what would have been his 150th cap, but began the game strongly and built an early lead before momentum swung in Glasgow's favour midway through the match.
Ulster opened the scoring when Bryn Ward powered over from a short penalty in the fourth minute and Jack Murphy converted. Glasgow responded through Josh McKay, with Horne's conversion levelling the scores, before Dan Lancaster was sent to the sin-bin for a deliberate knock-on and Ethan McIlroy exploited the numerical advantage to score for Ulster.
Glasgow regained the initiative when Kyle Rowe finished after a penetrating pass from Stafford McDowall and Horne's kick nudged the hosts ahead. A penalty initially awarded to Horne was overturned after he was judged to have thrown the ball at Ulster hooker Tom Stewart, and Ulster finished the half with Murphy converting his own score to lead 19-14.
Six minutes after the restart Chay Mullins, on debut, scored Ulster's bonus-point try following more constructive work from McIlroy and Murphy's conversion extended the visitors' advantage to 12 points. Indiscipline then cost Ulster as Ben Carson was sin-binned for a high tackle on McDowall and McIlroy followed for a deliberate knock-on, reducing Ulster to 13 and allowing Glasgow to strike back with Jamie Dobie’s score in the corner, converted by Horne.
Glasgow were held up from a rolling maul but soon took full advantage when Sam Talakai burrowed over and Horne's kick put the hosts in front; Rowe then crossed again to extend Glasgow's lead. Rory Darge and Talakai were sent to the sin-bin inside the final 10 minutes for repeated infringements, leaving Glasgow with 13 and enabling Juarno Augustus to score for Ulster, Nathan Doak converting to level the game.
The final phase was turbulent: Ben Carson was penalised for holding on at a ruck to give Glasgow a kickable penalty, Horne's subsequent attempt struck the upright, and Zac Ward was bundled into touch with the clock in the red to ensure the scores remained level as both teams squandered possession in search of a decisive score. Tries: McKay, Rowe 2, Dobie, Talakai; Cons: Horne 4. Tries: B Ward, McIlroy, Murphy, Mullins, Augustus; Cons: Murphy 3, Doak.
Glasgow's matchday squad was McKay; Rowe; McDowall, Tuipulotu; Dobie; Lancaster, Horne; Schickering, Hiddleston, Richardson; Brown, Williamson; Miller, Fraser, Fagerson, with replacements Stephen, McBeth, Talakai, Cummings, Darge, Duncan, Reidy, Kuenzle.
