Glasgow rally from 17-point deficit to beat Benetton in URC encounter

Glasgow recovered from a 17-point deficit to beat Benetton at Benetton in the United Rugby Championship on 24 October 2026, with Jare Oguntibeju scoring the decisive try as the visitors extended their unbeaten start to the season.
Glasgow trailed 10-0 at half-time after a first-half display described as disappointing and having missed several attacking chances. Benetton fly-half Jacob Umaga created the opening score by releasing centre Federico Zanandrea for the first try and also kicked a penalty before the break. Early in the second half Louis Lynagh intercepted Matthew Urwin’s pass and scored under the posts on 42 minutes, leaving Benetton with a clear advantage.
Glasgow responded by scoring three tries in an eight-minute spell to bring themselves level. Euan Ferrie scored from the back of a rolling maul, captain Kyle Steyn finished in the corner following good hands, and Rory Darge completed a sweeping team move that Steyn had started.
Jacob Umaga then nudged Benetton back into the lead off the tee, but with time running out lock Jare Oguntibeju crashed over from close range for Glasgow’s fourth try. That score proved to be the match-winner as Franco Smith’s side saw out the closing minutes for a hard-fought victory.
