Glenn Phillips sets world record for most runs in a T20I series during home series against India in 2026

Glenn Phillips set the world record for most runs in a T20I series during the home series against India in 2026. He finished the campaign with 341 runs in five innings and was named Player of the Series despite his team losing the series.

T20I cricket's rapid pace and high-risk nature make sustained consistency difficult, but a small number of batters have produced exceptional series totals. This article highlights the top three run-scoring campaigns in T20I series, including Mohammad Rizwan and Phil Salt, and places Phillips' 2026 output alongside those performances.

Phillips produced an extended run of high scores batting at No. 4, compiling one century and three half-centuries with individual innings of 82*, 40, 17, 107 and 65*. He recorded an average of 113.67 and a strike rate of 185.33 across the five innings.

Phil Salt's five-match away series in the West Indies contributed to his rise to No. 1 in the T20I rankings in 2023; he finished that series with 332 runs in five innings at an average of 82.75 and a strike rate of 185.95. Salt became the first English batter to score consecutive T20I centuries, was his team's top-scorer in four of the five matches, and hit two centuries during the campaign.

Mohammad Rizwan holds the Asian record for most runs in a bilateral T20I series, scoring 315 runs in a five-match series against England at home during his 2021-2022 period of form. Rizwan produced four half-centuries in that sequence, with scores of 68, 88*, 8, 88 and 63.

Tilak Varma holds the record for the most runs by an Indian batter in a bilateral T20I series, accumulating 280 runs against South Africa in four matches in 2024.
