Google launches Fitbit Edge at $179.99 with seven-day battery and built-in GPS

Google launched the Fitbit Edge and opened pre-orders on the Google Store on October 14, 2026, pricing the new tracker at $179.99 with up to seven days of battery life and built-in GPS. A Stephen Curry Special Edition, co-created with the four-time NBA champion, is available for $219.99; retail sales begin on October 27 and Google has not announced pricing or availability for India.
Google positions the Edge as an everyday fitness tracker for active users that sits between the Pixel Watch and the screenless Fitbit Air in its product line. The device measures 11.5mm thick and uses a recycled aluminium case that Google says is 45 per cent lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12. It will be offered in Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Canyon finishes and supports interchangeable bands sold separately.
The Edge introduces a hybrid OLED display that Google says provides 46 per cent more viewing area than its previous trackers and carries Google Maps, media controls, and call and message notifications. Compatibility requires a Google Account, the Google Health app, an internet connection and works with phones running Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later.
Battery life is claimed at up to seven days on a single charge based on Google’s pre-production testing, and fast magnetic charging is said to provide about a full day of use from roughly five minutes of charge when paired with a 30W adapter sold separately. Google also describes the Edge as the first repairable Fitbit tracker, with modular internal parts and a replaceable battery.
Fitness features include more than 50 exercise modes with real-time guidance such as pace targets, heart rate zones and track splits for sessions including HIIT intervals, Pilates and track work, plus automatic recognition and logging for up to 100 workout types. The built-in GPS operates without a phone and is claimed to be up to 40 per cent more accurate than previous generations; an altimeter tracks elevation changes.
Health monitoring on the Edge covers continuous heart rate, overnight skin temperature, sleep-stage analysis and heart rate variability to generate a recovery score each morning. The tracker includes an ECG app that Google says is available only in select countries and is not intended for anyone under 22; a set of Health Guardian features — blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends and high and low heart rate alerts — will vary by country and, Google stresses, are for general wellness rather than diagnosing conditions.
The headline software feature is the Google Health Coach, an AI coach that adapts training plans and helps users interpret health data; it requires a Google Health Premium subscription sold separately, although every purchase includes three months free. Curry’s Special Edition, produced after he signed a multi-year deal with Google in August 2025 as a performance adviser, is finished in rye tones with game-day orange accents and a water-repellent coating Google says is not permanent.
Pre-orders are available now on the Google Store and through retail partners, with sales starting October 27, 2026; Google has not provided Indian pricing or a launch date for the Fitbit Edge in India.
