GTA 6 boxed copies to include digital download code; no physical disc

Rockstar Games recently released a Launch Gallery for Grand Theft Auto VI and disclosed details of the game's physical edition, saying boxed copies will include a digital download code rather than a physical disc.

The Launch Gallery contains 39 new in-game screenshots featuring Jason, Lucia, supporting characters, NPCs, Leonida and Vice City, and Rockstar's materials set the game's maximum storage requirement at up to 212 GB depending on the console.

Rockstar confirmed the Standard Edition physical box will contain a digital download code that must be redeemed to download the game on console; a physical game disc will not be provided.

Pre-loading opens on November 10, 2026, with PS5 users able to begin at midnight local time and Xbox Series X|S users able to start at 12 a.m. GMT worldwide; the download code can be redeemed as soon as it is received to enable access to the pre-load window.

Rockstar has stated there will be no boxed Ultimate Edition; purchasers of the Standard Edition can subsequently buy an Ultimate Edition upgrade from the PlayStation Store or the Microsoft Store.

The announced console platforms for the initial release are PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X/S, and a PC version is expected sometime in 2027.

Boxed versions containing the download code are expected to be available for shipping and retail pickup beginning November 12, 2026, ahead of the game's scheduled November 19, 2026 console release.
