GTA 6 leak from Rockstar North visit details garages, fuel, trackers and more

After Rockstar Games released the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix and YouTube, content creator TGG — following a visit to Rockstar North — published a set of reported gameplay details on 2026-08-31 outlining vehicle systems, theft mechanics and customization features.
Rockstar had invited select content creators to Rockstar North to play elements of the game not shown in the Extended Look, and TGG’s account is based on that hands-on access. The reported information covers multiple systems tied to vehicles, player evasion and modification. TGG’s notes are described as leaks and the account states these features could change before the game’s full release.
TGG posted a tweet summarizing changes to the wanted system and police behaviour: "New details about 'GTA VI' wanted system:– New 6-star system, compared to 'GTA V' 5-star system.– Jason & Lucia can split off to distract police– Police will identify you based on clothes and your vehicle, you can change clothes/cars to try to evade them– Equipping masks… pic.twitter.com/IzAneIPPHC"
According to TGG, property ownership has shifted from safe houses to garages: players can purchase garages throughout Leonida but not safe houses, and buying multiple homes "wouldn't fit the game's story" because "Lucia and Jason are constantly on the run." Garages are presented as the primary vehicle storage option in the reported build.
The leak describes new vehicle handling and performance modelling, saying driving feels "heavier and more realistic than in GTA 4, but easier to play than GTA 5," with "much higher top speeds" and clearer differences between vehicle categories. TGG lists drivetrain, suspension, tires and steering as factors that will give each car a distinct feel.
A fully functional fuel system is reported: gas-powered vehicles must refuel at stations and electric vehicles must charge, with refueling taking around 10 seconds in the version TGG saw. The account repeats that these systems are part of the hands-on build and subject to change.
Vehicle theft is said to be more advanced, with luxury cars protected by security systems and trackers that may require tools such as key cloners to steal permanently. TGG reports some high-end cars will need to be driven at speed to avoid tracker alerts, while slow driving could trigger a tracker and alert police. The Waink app is described as allowing players to scan cars for "tracker level, resale value, security requirements and the official rate of registering the vehicle as a personal car." Pay ’n’ Spray reportedly returns for quick repairs and resprays that can help reduce police attention by altering a vehicle’s description.
Customization is reported to be geographically varied: modification shops across Leonida will specialise in particular upgrades, and players may need to travel between locations to unlock unique builds. Other features mentioned by TGG include Nitrous, crash cameras described as "in Burnout style," increased traffic density, more noticeable off-road handling differences, limited loot storage based on vehicle size, and more interactive carjackings where passengers can fight back.
TGG’s descriptions are drawn from an early play session at Rockstar North and are presented as reports rather than official confirmations; the account notes Rockstar Games may alter or remove features before the full launch, so these details should not be taken as final.
