GTA 6 nears $2 billion projected revenue and records highest purchase intent ahead of Nov. 19 launch

Circana market research says Grand Theft Auto 6 has reached the highest purchase intent the firm has ever recorded among U.S. console and PC gamers, weeks before its November 19, 2026 launch. Industry estimates and the Circana data place current pre-orders and revenue well into the hundreds of millions, with analysts projecting much larger launch figures.
Circana reported that 29% of U.S. console and PC gamers plan to buy GTA 6, a level the firm described as its strongest pre-launch player interest to date. Circana analyst Mat Piscatella described the title as: " a rare cultural and commercial moment." The report also noted, "The excitement and all the waiting for 13 years have definitely contributed the most."
Gamespot cited Circana’s numbers, reporting that GTA 6 has amassed about 7 million pre-orders and roughly $675 million in revenue before release. Separate industry estimates referenced in the report suggest those pre-order figures could rise substantially as launch approaches. The study’s figures apply to U.S. console and PC gamers and were presented ahead of the scheduled console launch.
Analysts quoted in the coverage projected that GTA 6 could sell over 25 million copies at launch and approach nearly $2 billion in revenue by the time it ships. The article also recalled that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 was released 15 years earlier and that GTA V went on to sell over 11 million copies on day one, as cited in the same reporting.
Rockstar’s console release is scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the report said a PC edition is expected to arrive sometime in 2027. The Circana report and industry commentary add that the game’s launch is expected to boost sales of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware.
The coverage cautioned that Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not officially confirmed the pre-order totals or revenue figures presented in the market research and media reports. The report added that it "won’t be surprising to see a reported number or an official announcement from Rockstar Games on day." The published figures and projections were described as estimates pending corporate confirmation.
The next concrete disclosure of official sales and revenue will come with Take-Two’s forthcoming shareholding meeting report; GTA 6’s console release remains scheduled for November 19, 2026 and the PC version is expected in 2027.
