GTA 6 preview at Rockstar North: TGG reports RideME, interactive phones, smarter NPCs
Ahead of the GTA 6 Extended Look, Rockstar Games invited content creators to Rockstar North to preview the game, and on 2026-08-30 one attendee, TGG, reported a number of additional features purportedly not shown in the Extended Look.
TGG said protagonists Lucia and Jason each carry personal smartphones populated with apps for messages, banking, fitness tracking, transportation and social media. According to the report, social media in the game is functional rather than purely cosmetic: videos and posts can reportedly lead players to hidden characters, activities and real locations across Leonida, which TGG suggested will encourage exploration.
The report states stolen vehicles will not become permanent possessions automatically and must be registered before they are yours. TGG also described a Waink car app that displays a vehicle's security level, the tools required to steal it, its resale value and the cost to register it.
Transportation options were described as expanded: public buses can be used as a fast-travel option with the choice to watch the full ride or skip to the destination, and a new ride-hailing service called RideME reportedly lets Jason and Lucia request transport anywhere on the map. The preview reportedly also allows placing quick waypoints without opening the full map and offers HUD customization between a traditional minimap, a compass or a cleaner interface.
Environmental interactions were said to be deeper, with functioning drive-thrus where purchased meals provide temporary stat boosts and convenience-store shelves that allow players to physically take products before purchasing. TGG additionally reported that players can visit the zoo and that Lucia and Jason can go on dates to strengthen their relationship.
TGG described more dynamic NPC behaviour, including the ability to greet or antagonize characters and situations in which Lucia can defend Jason unexpectedly, alongside a wider variety of NPC body shapes and heights intended to make Vice City feel more varied. The preview reportedly also includes Photo Mode, a Streamer Mode to filter out copyrighted music, safe houses, salons with customised hairstyles and a fitness app that reminds characters when it is time to exercise.
TGG is the source of these reports and Rockstar Games has not officially confirmed them. The account of RideME specifically claims the service lets players call transportation and either enjoy the ride or skip directly to the destination, and TGG reiterated that social media posts and videos can lead players to hidden NPCs, activities and locations throughout the game world.
