The two protagonists can pursue a romantic relationship, but that system is optional rather than mandatory; players may keep Jason and Lucia as a couple or limit their partnership to criminal collaboration. The preview also asserts that ignoring the romance mechanics will not dissolve the partnership or continually penalize a player who focuses on only one character.
Dates between Jason and Lucia are described as dynamic, with examples cited including zoo visits, kayaking and beach walks, and reports say players will be able to create their own date activities. The content creator material frames these interactions as player-driven choices rather than scripted obligations.
