World champion D Gukesh said Arjun Erigaisi’s shock opening-round loss at the Chess Olympiad followed India’s hectic arrival and accommodation problems.
Gukesh said players waited six hours to get rooms.
He backed India’s decision to field him on board four, saying Pragg and Arjun were in strong form and that the order was chosen to maximise the team’s chances.
