Hanumanmahabala takes Raja Mahboob Karan Memorial Trophy in Hyderabad

The four-year-old colt Hanumanmahabala, who won well in his last start and had been tipped to score an encore, prevailed in the Raja Mahboob Karan Memorial Trophy, the feature race at Hyderabad on Monday (Sept. 21).

The Raja Mahboob Karan Memorial Trophy was run over 1,400m for 3-y-o and upward, rated 40 to 65 (Cat. II), and was scheduled for 4.30 p.m. The declared eight-runner field listed Prince Of Wales (Antony Raj 60), Kalki (R.N. Darshan 57), Stars Envied (G. Naresh 57) and Hanumanmahabala (Neeraj 56.5). Her Ladyship (Shivam 51.5), Super Splash (V.S. Shekhawat 54), Feel The Magic (D.S. Deora 53.5) and Home Run (Akshay K 53.5) completed the line-up.

Hanumanmahabala, ridden by Neeraj and assigned 56.5, finished first in the feature. Home Run, partnering Akshay K with 53.5, was placed second and Super Splash, ridden by V.S. Shekhawat with 54, was third.

In the opener, the Green Haven Plate (Div. I) over 1,200m for 4-y-o and upward rated up to 25 (Cat. III) at 1.35 p.m., the runners included Exclusive Luck (Antony Raj 62), Faizah (V.S. Shekhawat 61.5) and Iconic Star (Bhawani S 52.5); the order of finish was Exclusive Luck first, Iconic Star second and Faizah third. The Green Haven Plate (Div. II) at 2.10 featured The Purpose (R.N. Darshan 62), Marissa (Uday Kiran 61.5) and Star Councillor (D.S. Deora 61.5); The Purpose won with Bold Indian and Star Councillor filling second and third.

The Shiv Kumar Lal Memorial Trophy, run over 1,600m for 3-y-o and upward rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III) at 2.45 p.m., had Hoping Star (Sohan K 60), Master Class (Gaurav 60) and You Tuber (Akshay K 58.5) among its eight runners; You Tuber won the race, Hoping Star was second and Zorba third. The Medak Plate, a maiden contest over 1,400m for 3-y-o only (Cat. II) at 3.20, featured a 15-horse field including Atman (Antony Raj 56) and Anemara (Akshay K 54.5); Anemara finished first, Atman second and Stronghold third.

The Nizam Sagar Plate over 1,200m for 5-y-o and upward, rated 20 to 45 (Cat. III) at 3.55 p.m., listed Linda (P. Ajeeth K 62), Dino (Akshay K 61.5) and Trust Me (G. Naresh 61); Dino won, Linda was second and Aos Si third. The late Red Surprise Plate (1,200m) for 4-y-o and upward, rated 40 to 65 (Cat. II) at 5.05 produced Diligence as the winner, Greif second and State Man third.
