Harry Kane and Michael Olise did not feature for Bayern Munich in the pre-season friendly against Aston Villa at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on August 7, 2026. The match was part of Bayern’s ongoing pre-season programme under Vincent Kompany.

Bayern’s summer preparations have produced mixed results, beginning with a surprise 2-1 defeat to Wiesbaden followed by a 15-0 win over Rottach-Egern a few days later. Vincent Kompany has overseen those fixtures as the club builds toward competitive matches. Several senior players have returned from post-World Cup breaks, but Kane and Olise were missing from the squad for the Hong Kong game.

The two forwards missed the friendly because they remained on extended leave after competing at the World Cup. Both featured in the tournament’s third-place play-off, where their respective national teams faced each other. England won that match and finished third in the World Cup.

Bayern granted Kane and Olise additional time to recuperate following their World Cup campaigns with England and France. The club reported that both players were still on vacation and had not rejoined the squad for the Hong Kong trip. Their absences were cited as the reason they were not available for the Aston Villa friendly.

With Kane and Olise unavailable, Kompany deployed the remaining players to work on match fitness during the Hong Kong fixture. The friendly was staged at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Stadium. There are two friendlies left on Bayern’s pre-season schedule before competitive action resumes.

Bayern will meet Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup on August 22. Kane and Olise have been given additional time to recuperate and might return before the start of the new season.
