Harry Kane scored twice and England beat Czechia 3-0 at Wembley in a Nations League match on 6 October 2026, a game that marked his 125th appearance for his country. The captain was substituted in the 82nd minute to a standing ovation after a dominant display.

Kane’s 125th cap moved him level with Peter Shilton on the England appearance list and took his international tally to 91 goals; pre-match ITV footage showed his first England goal, a 2015 header against Lithuania. England’s victory came against a Czechia side ranked No 50 and under Thomas Tuchel the England team have now played 16 matches against sides ranked outside the world’s top 20, winning 15 and drawing one while conceding only once in that sequence.

The opening goal came via an own goal from Vladimir Coufal after a teasing cross from Kane into the so-called corridor of uncertainty unsettled the Czechia defender. Trent Alexander-Arnold, recalled to right-back by Tuchel, had been prominent in the buildup, supplying a whipped free-kick and carrying the ball into advanced positions during the first half.

Jude Bellingham was influential throughout, producing fizzed passes and creating a 25th-minute chance for Morgan Rogers that went begging. Anderson should have made it 2-0 after a Bellingham lay-off; Kane sparked the move and Alexander-Arnold’s cross drove it, but the chance was not converted.

The second goal before half-time arrived when Elliot Anderson lofted a ball up the inside right and Morgan Rogers delivered a first-time cross to an unmarked Kane, who finished clinically with the goalkeeper beaten. Shortly after the restart Kane’s effort from the edge of the area struck the crossbar, and he later headed in from a Lewis Hall corner following a save from Lukas Hornicek and space conceded by Jiri Slama.

There was a disciplinary blot when Myles Lewis-Skelly was booked in the 53rd minute for pulling back Pavel Sulc; the booking means he will be suspended for England’s next game. England’s bench substitutions included the withdrawal of Kane in the 82nd minute, and Eberechi Eze and Lewis Hall drew praise for their contributions on the flanks.

The victory has virtually guaranteed England’s progress into the Nations League quarter-finals and provided a positive end to the international window as the side seek to move on from their World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina. Kane will break the England caps record when the team host Croatia in November.
