Historic hockey and wrestling golds push India into top five at 2026 Asian Games

India rose to fifth in the medal standings at the 2026 Asian Games on October 2, 2026 after historic hockey and wrestling golds.

India have 16 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze medals, taking their overall tally to 76 and placing them fifth behind China, Japan, South Korea and Uzbekistan.

China lead the medal table with 162 gold, 81 silver and 73 bronze medals, for a total of 316. Japan are second with 71 golds, 83 silvers and 85 bronzes, while South Korea are third with 33 golds, 39 silvers and 62 bronzes.
