Horley century steers Middlesex to One Day Cup League Two final win in Bristol
Middlesex captain Saskia Horley scored 117 as Middlesex beat Glamorgan by 67 runs to win the Metro Bank Women's One Day Cup League Two final in Bristol on 20 September 2026; Middlesex finished on 278-6 (50 overs) while Glamorgan were all out for 211 (44.5 overs).
Horley made 117 from 86 balls, hitting 13 boundaries, and shared a 131-run fourth-wicket stand with Finty Trussler as Middlesex posted 278-6, aided by several below-par moments from Glamorgan in the field. Pippa Sproul and Trussler each contributed 43 during the innings. In reply Bethan Gammon top-scored with 58 and Abbey Freeborn made 43; Horley returned with the ball to take 4-36 and Hannah Davis finished with 3-36, helping Middlesex claim their maiden One Day Cup title while denying Glamorgan a perfect farewell to tier-two cricket before they turn professional.
Artemis Downer began the Middlesex innings with a pair of boundaries before being caught at point off Anna-Mae Shearn; Downer had earlier hit an unbeaten 60 when Middlesex beat Glamorgan by 10 wickets earlier in September. Izzy Routledge and Pippa Sproul put on a fluent 60-run partnership to steady the innings. Routledge was caught at mid-off off Nicole Reid, and Sproul was later caught and bowled by Poppy Walker for 43 from 67 balls.
Horley and Trussler’s fourth-wicket partnership provided the platform for the Middlesex total, and Trussler was eventually stumped by Abbey Freeborn off the bowling of Eve Jackson. Horley’s century drove the middle overs and helped set a challenging target. Middlesex benefited from several fielding lapses by Glamorgan during their innings.
Glamorgan’s chase faltered early when captain Lauren Parfitt was bowled by Siya Nanavati for eight in the fifth over, and Daisy Jeanes was caught at mid-wicket off Issy Routledge. The middle order collapsed further after Horley removed Bethan Ellis and Megan Sturge, leaving Glamorgan 72-4. A 72-run stand between Freeborn and Gammon briefly stabilised the chase.
The Freeborn–Gammon partnership ended when Freeborn was bowled by Anaya Patel for 43, and Hannah Davis took two quick wickets, including dismissing Gammon, who was caught in the deep for 58. Glamorgan’s innings continued to unravel and Horley had the final say when she had Gemma Porter caught by Trussler, wrapping up the innings.
Middlesex secured their first One Day Cup title from this victory; Glamorgan’s loss denied them a winning finish in tier-two as they prepare to turn professional.
