Hull City lodge £15 million bid for Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam

Hull City, recently promoted to the Premier League, have been active in the summer window and have added several central midfielders already, including Óscar Zambrano from Maribor (currently injured), Hidemasa Morita from Sporting CP on a free transfer, and Jens Hjertø-Dahl from Tromsø for £8.6 million; the latest player linked to the club is Everton’s Tim Iroegbunam.

Iroegbunam was born in Great Barr to Nigerian parents and began his career in Sutton United’s youth academy before moving to West Bromwich Albion, where he was named on the bench for a Premier League match in 2021. He signed for Aston Villa’s U-23 team at the end of the 2020-21 season for an undisclosed fee and made his Premier League debut in February 2022 against Brighton.

He spent a season-long loan at Queens Park Rangers, making 32 appearances and scoring two goals, and after 12 league appearances for Aston Villa he joined Everton for a £9 million fee on a three-year contract, making his Everton debut against Brighton.

At Everton, Iroegbunam made 18 league appearances in his debut season, registering one assist, and last season he made 31 appearances across all competitions, including 29 in the Premier League, bringing his total to 47 league appearances for the Merseyside club.

Iroegbunam has represented England at U-19 and U-20 level and remains eligible to play for Nigeria through his parents.

The reported £15 million bid now awaits a response from Everton, who are considering the offer in light of the player’s contract situation and the club’s option to extend for a further year.
