Hull KR lose at home to Toulouse in Super League, denting top-four bid

Hull KR were beaten at home by Toulouse in a Super League match on 22 August 2026, a result that damaged their hopes of finishing in the top four.
A victory would have lifted the Robins to fourth but instead they remain sixth. The defeat was their second home reverse within five days; Hull KR omitted Mikey Lewis and Tevita Pangai Jr from the matchday squad despite their bans not starting until next week, and the side made repeated costly errors and conceded needless penalties after playing three games in 10 days.
Toulouse opened the scoring on 30 minutes when Jack Broadbent missed a tackle and Mathieu Jussaume went over. Hull KR responded in the 35th minute after Peta Hiku made a break and sent captain Elliot Minchella in under the posts, and a potential second Robins try three minutes later was correctly ruled out for obstruction by Hiku.
Toulouse regained the lead before half-time when Benjamin Laguerre broke down the left and passed inside for Romeo Tropis to score under the posts. Video referee James Vella then awarded a try to Anthony Marion on 62 minutes despite two Robins tackles, and Toulouse pulled further clear when Paul Ulberg finished on the right in the 66th minute.
Tropis crossed for his second try on 71 minutes and Luke Polselli grounded his own kick under the posts six minutes later; Louix Gorman finished for Hull KR on the left a minute from time. Tries: Hull KR — Minchella, Gorman. Goals: Martin 2. Tries: Toulouse — Jussaume, Tropis 2, Marion, Ulberg, Polselli. Goals: Rouge 4.
Hull KR named Mourgue; Davies, Hiku, Broadbent, Burgess; Hampshire, Charles; Sue, Litten, Amone, Hadley, Batchelor, Lawton, with interchanges Minchella, Luckley, Martin, Gorman; Leyland. Toulouse named Polselli; Ulberg, Quai-Ward, Tropis, Laguerre; Lacans, Rouge; Belmas, Hands, Roumanos, Stefani, Jussaume, Cator, with interchanges Marion, Chan, Toleafoa, Wallace; Garrigues.
The loss leaves Hull KR sixth in the Super League table and facing the prospect of being an away side in the first round of the play-offs next month.
