Hyderabad three wickets short of innings victory as Tripura falter in second innings

Hyderabad finished three wickets short of an innings victory over Tripura at the Gymkhana Ground on Monday in their Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season opener. Half-centuries from Tanmay Agarwal and debutant Ruthik Yadav and a first-innings lead of 160 put the hosts firmly in control, while Tripura pacer Sandip Sarkar claimed eight wickets.
Tanmay reached his fifty in the very first over but was soon nicked off Parvez Sultan to Rajat Dey at short leg. Ruthik, on debut, battled to a 116-ball fifty and combined with Rahul Radesh for a careful 75-run partnership that carried Hyderabad into lunch with momentum on their side. Sandip’s return for Tripura remained the main resistance with multiple breakthroughs across Hyderabad’s innings.
The new ball briefly shifted the contest when Sandip removed both set batters, and C.V. Milind’s huge straight six was followed almost immediately by his dismissal, st Senthu b Sandip. Hyderabad were eventually dismissed for 294, leaving a first-innings lead of 160.
