PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen won the women’s and men’s singles titles respectively at the HYLO Open 2026, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event that concluded at the Saarlandhalle in Germany on Sunday. Both champions secured their finals in straight games.

Sindhu, the Japan Open champion earlier this year and the tournament’s second seed, completed the HYLO Open without dropping a game, defeating Denmark’s Line Hojmark Kjarsfeldt 21-12, 21-14 in 39 minutes. Her run followed a runner-up finish at the French Open last week and was described in the report as a strong return to form after a difficult 2025 season. Sindhu also overcame 19-year-old Anmol Kharb in the semi-finals, contributing to a memorable week for India.

“It has been an amazing two weeks I would say. Hats off to my whole team, we’ve been planning accordingly. As you keep growing, it’s important to get your things better and be smarter in what you choose. “But I think at the same time it was important for me to just stay calm. More than anything, there is still room to improve.” Sindhu said that the HYLO Open title is her second of 2026 after the Japan Open win in July.

Lakshya Sen defeated fourth seed Jonathan Christie of Indonesia 21-17, 21-10 in 39 minutes to lift the men’s singles crown; the report also refers to the opponent as World No. 6 Jonatan Christie and states the victory levelled Sen’s head-to-head record against Christie. The win was Sen’s first title of the season and his first in nearly a year.

“It’s been quite some time since I’ve won a tournament, so it feels really good to play this well. The last two matches that I played were really top quality opponents and I managed to beat them convincingly. “I’m happy with the way I played and really happy to win a tournament,” said Lakshya about his performance at HYLO.

The report noted this was the first time in four years that two Indians won titles at the same BWF World Tour event at the Super 500 level or above; the last occasion cited was the 2022 India Open, when Lakshya Sen won the men’s singles and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty claimed the men’s doubles.

Both finals were decided in straight games and each completed in 39 minutes.
