I am both stressed and happy, says Hyderabad coach Anirudh Singh after one-wicket Ranji win

Hyderabad coach Anirudh Singh said he was "I am both stressed and happy!" after his side secured a one-wicket victory over Chhattisgarh in a Ranji Trophy match in Hyderabad on November 05, 2026. He described the closing stages as tense and said he was relieved the team managed to see the game through.
Hyderabad's one-wicket triumph sparked celebrations as the side continued a run that includes three wins and a draw this season. Anirudh, who took charge in July, said the result brought relief after a tight finish and praised the collective effort that produced the win.
Anirudh singled out the Hyderabad Cricket Association and Ambati Rayudu, the director of cricket operations, for their role in preparing the team. He said they organised a lot of matches (in the pre-season) and gave the players enough opportunities, and that the selection process was good. He added that the setup had decided early to go for result-oriented pitches at home games and that everyone worked to address the small drawbacks from the last few seasons. "And credit should also go to the players. They were absolutely brilliant," he said.

Despite the narrow defeat, Chhattisgarh head coach Amay Khurasiya praised his side's attitude, calling it a fight conducted "with dignity and honour." "It was a lovely game. We fought with dignity and honour. We kept our pride ahead of us, and we did everything we could," he said, and the report noted his post-match debrief was quick but full of laughter and cheers.
Khurasiya also said he stood by his players after the loss, adding: "I always stand with my boys when they lose. It’s very easy to do post-mortems. Nobody wants to lose. The mood was quite sombre, and I had to lift it. That’s my job as a coach," he explained.
The result leaves Hyderabad firmly in the hunt for a Ranji Trophy knockout berth, with three wins and a draw underpinning their current position in the competition.
