ICC reports more than 15 million ticket applications for Cricket World Cup 2027

The International Cricket Council said on Tuesday that ticket demand for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 has surged, with applications submitted for the tournament to be staged in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia from October 2 to November 21, 2027. The ICC added the event is now less than a year away.
The 14th edition will feature 14 teams competing across 57 matches, with the competition structured as a preliminary stage, group stage, Super 7 and knockout rounds. India, Australia, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan have qualified directly, while South Africa and Zimbabwe have secured places as co-hosts and Namibia, as an associate nation, must progress through the qualifier.
Since the ticket ballot opened 12 days ago the ICC said demand has exceeded 1.5 crore (15 million) applications originating from 142 countries. The organisation provided precise totals of 15,083,752 ticket applications and 4,423,417 ballot registrations.
Sanjog Gupta, ICC Chief Executive Officer, said, “The overwhelming demand for tickets is a testament to the stature and appeal of the Cricket World Cup, the allure of Africa as a destination, and the anticipation for the event generated by the ICC and its partners’ promotional activities leading up to the event launch.”
The ICC described the number of applications as unprecedented and noted the ballot activity is occurring roughly a year before the tournament final. For the first time in 24 years, the African region will host the ODI World Cup.
Ticket ballot registrations close on 21 November 2026 at 23h59 (CAT), the ICC confirmed.
