India were bowled out for 462 in their first innings on the third day of the opening Test against Sri Lanka at Galle on Monday, August 17, 2026. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 167.

India resumed the day at 460 for nine and managed only two further runs before the final wicket fell, Asitha Fernando accounting for Prasidh Krishna. Padikkal’s 167 formed the backbone of India’s total; his innings had reached its conclusion on Sunday, August 16. He had celebrated a century on day one of the match.

Sri Lanka’s bowling was led by Prabath Jayasuriya, who finished with figures of 4/109. Keshara Nuwantha claimed 3/175 while Asitha Fernando ended with 2/63.
