India and Afghanistan to meet in 2nd T20I at Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 15

India and Afghanistan will play the second T20I of India's tour of Afghanistan 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 15. India carried momentum into the fixture after winning the opening match at the same ground on Sunday by seven wickets.
Put into bat in the first T20I, Afghanistan lost half of their side for just 43 before a recovery late in the innings. Azmatullah Omarzai (64*) and Mohammad Nabi (33) added 83 runs for the sixth wicket, and Omarzai batted through to the end as Afghanistan finished on 156 for eight. Arshdeep Singh was India's most successful bowler in that innings, returning figures of three for 19.
India's selection for the match included Sanju Samson ahead of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi; Samson, on his comeback, was dismissed for ten. His wicket preceded a substantial second-wicket stand that shifted the balance of the chase.
Abhishek Sharma produced an innings of 82 while Ishan Kishan made 42; the pair compiled 121 runs for the second wicket. Sharma recorded a half-century on his way to 82, and Kishan provided support at the other end during the partnership.
Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Varma were on hand to finish the run chase, and India reached the target with seven wickets in hand. The result is recorded as India winning the 1st IND vs AFG T20I by 7 wickets.
The series continues with the second T20I scheduled for September 15 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
