India beat Afghanistan by seven wickets in second T20 at Arun Jaitley; third match to follow in New Delhi

India beat Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second of three T20 internationals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday.

After two one-sided contests, the series moves to its third and final game, which will again be held at Arun Jaitley Stadium where the opening two matches took place. Afghanistan were sent in to bat and had a poor start when Rahmanullah Gurbaz was dismissed for a three-ball duck. Captain Ibrahim Zadran made 37 and Seqidullah Atal combined with him in a 51-run stand for the second wicket.

Afghanistan then suffered a collapse, losing six wickets for just 100, but late contributions from Darwish Rasooli (26), Mohammad Nabi (20) and Rashid Khan (28) helped them reach 159 for eight. For India, Nitish Kumar Reddy finished with three wickets.

In reply, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma (39) and Sanju Samson (57) attacked from the outset, assembling an 88-run opening partnership inside seven overs. Abhishek fell short of a half-century while Samson produced a brutal half-century. Ishan Kishan remained unbeaten on 38 and provided a further top-order contribution.

India chased the target inside 15 overs to secure the seven-wicket win and move 2-0 ahead in the three-match series. The third and final T20 will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
