India beat Chinese Taipei to complete Group A at Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya

The Indian men's kabaddi team defeated Chinese Taipei at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya on Thursday morning to complete the group stage of the men's kabaddi competition at the Asian Games 2026. The victory left India unbeaten in Group A.

India began on the front foot, with Aslam Inamdar and Rahul Sethpal combining on the right corner to keep Chinese Taipei's raiders under pressure. Sethpal’s ankle holds proved particularly effective. India established control from the opening exchanges and forced an early All-Out.

Chinese Taipei responded with occasional thigh holds and Super Tackles to remain competitive. India continued to register points at both ends of the mat. The visitors secured a second All-Out and took a 23-11 lead into the half.

After the interval Chinese Taipei looked to pick up bonus points while India turned to Devank Dalal and Ayan Lohchab for attacking touches to protect their advantage. Chung-mao Chang produced an important ankle hold as Taipei tried to narrow the deficit. India’s raiders increased attacking pressure, restored momentum and achieved another All-Out.

With the clock winding down India remained composed defensively, restricting Taipei’s scoring opportunities while their raiders kept the scoreboard moving. India eventually closed out a 37-21 victory. India’s points included three bonus points and six All-Out points, while Chinese Taipei registered nine bonus points and two Super Tackles.

India will now advance to the semi-finals on 25 September. The win was India’s fourth consecutive victory at the Asian Games 2026.
