India beat Korea 63-31 at Tokai Citizens Gymnasium to stay unbeaten in Asian Games kabaddi

India beat the Republic of Korea 63-31 at the Tokai Citizens Gymnasium in their Group A match at the Asian Games on Tuesday, with captain Sunil Kumar leading the side to a dominant victory.

The result was India’s second Group A game of the tournament, following Monday’s 49-24 win over Japan, leaving them unbeaten after two matches as they pursue their ninth Asian Games kabaddi gold in the last 10 editions.

India’s raiding unit outscored Korea 38 out points to 23, and the hosts carried a 34-14 lead into half-time after collecting 23 out points and seven bonus points in the opening period; two All-Outs in that half extended the margin while Korea managed only 10 touch points before the interval.

In the second half India added a further 29 points, including another All-Out, and finished the match with 17 bonus points overall; Korea scored 17 points after the break but could not overturn the deficit.

Captain Sunil Kumar’s side combined frequent successful raids with a defence that repeatedly disrupted Korea’s attacks, preventing sustained momentum from the visitors throughout the contest.

The victory keeps India unbeaten in Group A; they will face Bangladesh on September 23 and then meet Chinese Taipei in their final Group A fixture on Thursday. India’s women’s team will play Iran in their second Group A match on Wednesday, after opening their campaign with a win over Bangladesh on Monday.
