India Women defeated Sri Lanka Women 39-14 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on Friday to reach the final of the Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026, while Uganda Women edged Kenya Women 23-21 to join them.

Day 8 of the tournament staged the women's semi-finals at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on Friday. The title match will be a repeat of a group-stage meeting in which India had prevailed 41-18. Uganda secured their place in the final by overcoming Kenya in a close contest.

Nakayongo Shirat and Nalwoga Nahia were the scoring leaders for Uganda in the 23-21 win, each finishing with eight points; Nahia registered all her points in the second half after coming off the bench. Captain Nalubega Olivia contributed three tackle points. Uganda finished the match with 17 raid points, four tackle points and inflicted one All-Out.

For Kenya, Lavenda Odhiambo top-scored with 16 raid points from 25 raids, which included six bonus points, and Lizzeanne Owino added two tackle points. Uganda led 12-9 at half-time and were 18-12 with seven minutes remaining, but Odhiambo scored 11 of her 16 points after the break as Kenya outscored Uganda 9-5 over the closing seven minutes. With the teams level on raid points, Uganda's first-half All-Out and a perfect record in do-or-die raids, five from five, determined the outcome.

India dominated Sri Lanka to reach the final, leading 24-7 at half-time before finishing 39-14. Sakshi topped the Indian scoresheet with 11 points — eight from raids and three from tackles — while captain Nidhi Sharma contributed 10 points from 12 raids, including two bonus points. Ritu added four tackle points and Suman three, as India recorded 21 raid points, 12 tackle points and forced three All-Outs.

Diluxshana was Sri Lanka's top-scorer with six points, five of them bonus points, and Priyavarna produced a Super Tackle, but Sri Lanka managed just eight successful raids across the match. India captain Nidhi Sharma said, “I’m very happy; it feels really good to have reached the final. We have played Uganda before, but they will change their strategy because it’s the second time we’re facing them, so it will be a good match.”

The women's final between India and Uganda is scheduled for October 31 at 7:30 PM IST.
