India beat Sri Lanka by 165 runs in Galle; WTC table, top run-scorers and wicket-takers after 1st Test

India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 at Galle on 2026-08-19, securing the visitors' victory in the opening match.
Manav Suthar produced a decisive bowling performance, recording 6/55 in Sri Lanka's second innings and completing ten wickets in the match; Sonal Dinusha scored a century in Sri Lanka's first innings and made 84 in the second. Chasing a target of 371, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 206, and India now hold an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
Manav Suthar's second-innings figures included the last four Sri Lankan wickets, which he took in a span of ten balls. His 6/55 was the key bowling return that underpinned India's win in Galle. Those strikes completed his ten-wicket match haul, a decisive factor in the result.
Sonal Dinusha had earlier posted a century in Sri Lanka's first innings and added 84 in the second innings while batting in the chase. Sri Lanka's final total of 206 came while pursuing 371 for victory. The batting contributions from Dinusha were the principal resistance in an otherwise unsuccessful fourth-innings pursuit.
