India were defeated 0-8 by Russia at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata in the second women's international friendly on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The result completed a pair of wins for Russia in Kolkata after an earlier 4-0 victory in the first friendly.

India had shown resistance for much of the first half in Thursday’s 0-4 loss, but head coach Crispin Chettri made five changes to his starting lineup for the return match, bringing in Shubhangi Singh, Mousumi Murmu, Renu, Dhurga Perumal and Priyadharshini Selladurai, with Ranjana Chanu Sorokhaibam named captain. The alterations failed to halt Russia’s momentum as the visitors quickly asserted control of the contest.

Russia combined fluently, shifted play to stretch India’s defence and used pace to expose gaps, forcing errors in Indian possession. The opener came in the 21st minute when Ksenia Dolgova’s low cross led to a spill by goalkeeper Monalisha Devi Moirangthem and Darina Ishmukhametova tapped in the rebound. Four minutes later Marine Achoian collected a loose ball about 30 yards out, evaded several defenders and struck a powerful right-footed shot into the top-right corner to make it 2-0.

The third goal arrived in the 29th minute after Azalia Zalmieva and Achoian combined; Achoian threaded a pass for Daiana Kishmakhova, whose unchecked run from the right produced a near-post finish. In the 42nd minute Kira Petukhova—who had scored twice in the first friendly—was brought down by Juli Kishan, and Ishmukhametova converted the resulting penalty.

Ishmukhametova intercepted a loose Indian pass on the right and supplied Achoian for Russia’s fifth before half-time, with Achoian beating Monalisha for her second of the evening in first-half stoppage (45+1'). Monalisha, however, denied further attempts from Achoian and Petukhova before the interval as India went into the break trailing 0-5.

A substitute goalkeeper, debutant Nandini, was introduced after the restart and Russia struck twice in quick succession. Natalia Mashina intercepted a Cindy Colney pass and finished in the 50th minute, then capitalised on a poor clearance one minute later to slot a second goal through Nandini’s legs. Russia completed the scoring in the 74th minute when a long throw found Mashina, who worked the ball back to Elizaveta Semenova; Semenova created space and drove a right-footed shot into the bottom-left corner.

The Indian Women’s team lost their first friendly 4-0 and followed it with the 8-0 reverse in the second match. Darina Ishmukhametova 21′, 42′ (p), Marine Achoian 25′, 45+1′, Daiana Kishmakhova 29′, Natalia Mashina 50′, 51′, Elizaveta Semenova 74′ scored for Russia in the second friendly against India.
