India clinch men's compound team gold at Asian Games 2026 after one-point win over China

The Indian men’s compound archery team of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya at Okazaki Central Park Multipurpose Square on Wednesday, September 30, edging China’s Jiahao Liao, Jinyi Liu and Jingyu Shi 238-237 in the final.

India’s victory completed a set of three compound team golds at Aichi-Nagoya after Indian women’s and mixed teams earlier claimed their respective titles, meaning India retained all three compound team crowns they had won at the Hangzhou 2022 Games.

China controlled large portions of the final and India trailed 58-60 after the opening end. In the second end India produced six perfect 10s but remained behind, 120-118 at the halfway mark.

The deficit narrowed to a single point after the third end, with India trailing 179-178 going into the closing stages. The match swung decisively when Jiahao Liao shot an 8 in the penultimate sequence; India then delivered six perfect 10s to move ahead for the first time.

Kushal Dalal, Sahil Jadhav and Thirumuru Ganesh Mani Ratnam held that advantage through the finish to secure the one-point victory over China, sealing the final scoreline at 238-237.

India’s men reached the final after a 235-232 quarter-final win over Bhutan and a 236-229 semi-final victory against South Korea, whose team in that match comprised Choi Eun Gyu, Choi Yonghee and Kim Jongho.

Separately, the Indian mixed compound team won gold earlier in the tournament, with Chikitha and Sahil claiming the mixed-team title and securing a quota place for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
