India's 10-player table tennis squad for Asian Games 2026 led by Sathiyan Gnanasekaran

India will field a compact but experienced table tennis squad at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The Table Tennis Federation of India finalised the group in June.

The selected contingent comprises ten players, split evenly between five men and five women. A detailed, event-by-event schedule for the table tennis competition had not been released at the time of writing. The squad selection was completed well ahead of the Games.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran will captain the men’s team and is the squad’s most experienced player. He was a key figure in the men’s team that claimed bronze at the 2018 Games and has since represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. Those credentials are cited as the reason he is the natural choice to lead the men’s line-up this time.

Harmeet Desai is included in the men’s contingent and brings Commonwealth Games experience, having won two gold medals at that event. He was also part of the 2018 bronze-winning squad and will travel to Japan as a member of the team.

On the women’s side, national champion Sreeja Akula will take the lead for India. She won mixed doubles gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and comes to Aichi-Nagoya as one of India’s brightest paddling prospects. Her national title is noted among the credentials carried into the tournament.
