India defeated Afghanistan by seven wickets in the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on September 15, 2026, and thereby sealed the three-match series.

Afghanistan were asked to bat first and were held to 159, with skipper Ibrahim Zadran finishing as his side's top batter. India chased 160, their top order contributing noticeably, and the victory represented India’s second T20I series triumph under captain Shreyas Iyer.

India paceman Nitish Kumar Reddy played a major role with the ball in the Afghanistan innings, taking three wickets. He was named Player of the Match for a career-best return of 3 for 24 in the second T20I on September 15, 2026.

Sanju Samson produced a half-century as part of India’s chase, and Ishan Kishan finished the game unbeaten to complete the successful pursuit of 160. The successful partnership at the top of the innings helped India secure the win by seven wickets.

Abhishek Sharma sits atop the series’ run-scorers list after two matches, and Indian players lead both the batting and bowling charts at this stage of the contest. With the ball, Arshdeep Singh has returned to strong form for India during the series.

By winning the first two matches, India have already clinched the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

The series outcome is decided after two games; the third match will now be a dead rubber in the three-match tie.
