India secure men's skeet team bronze at Asian Games 2026; Anantjeet Naruka reaches individual final

India's men's skeet team of Anantjeet Singh Naruka, Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill won the bronze medal in the men's skeet team event at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on Wednesday, September 23. Anantjeet Singh Naruka also advanced to the men's skeet individual final.

The trio finished with a combined qualification total of 346 points across three days, tying with Kazakhstan for third and forcing a shoot-off to decide the bronze. India prevailed in that shoot-off to claim third place in the team standings.

Qatar topped the team event with 353 points to take gold, while Kuwait recorded 348 for silver. Individually for India, Anantjeet was the highest scorer with 119 out of 125, Mairaj Ahmad Khan contributed 116, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill added 111 to the team aggregate.

Anantjeet’s qualification score placed him into the men's skeet individual final, which was scheduled for 12:30 PM IST later the same day, and he finished joint-fourth in that event. Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Bhavtegh Singh Gill did not qualify for the individual round.

India also secured bronze in the women's skeet team event on Wednesday, with Raiza Dhillon, Parinaaz Dhaliwal and Maheshwari Chauhan combining for 331 points. China won the women's event with 357 points and Kazakhstan took silver with 336; Raiza and Parinaaz each shot 111 out of 125 while Maheshwari recorded 109.

Notable additional results on the shooting programme included Manu Bhaker finishing fifth in the women's 10m air pistol individual final with a score of 181.1. In the women's 10m air pistol team event India placed fourth with an aggregate of 1719-44x, with Vietnam taking the bronze on 1719-46x, China winning gold on 1735-56x and South Korea silver on 1730-55x. Earlier in the Games, Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Maskar and Vidarsa Vinod won silver in the women's 10m air rifle team event and Elavenil added an individual silver; Himanshu Dhillon and Rundrakksh Patil won silver in the men's 10m air rifle team event and then followed with Himanshu winning an individual silver and Rundrakksh an individual bronze.

With the two skeet bronzes on Wednesday, India's shooting medal count at the Asian Games 2026 rose to seven medals in total: four silver and three bronze, compared with India's haul of seven golds, nine silvers and six bronzes (22 medals) at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
