India take team silver in women’s 50m rifle 3 positions at Asian Games 2026; Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod reach individual final

India’s Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa Vinod and Ashi Chouksey won the silver medal in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday, finishing with a combined total of 1,763 points; Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod advanced to the individual final.

China claimed gold with 1,773 points, 10 clear of India, a score that matched China’s own record set at the Hangzhou Games in 2022, while Kazakhstan took bronze with 1,754 after a close contest for third place.

Tilottama Sen was India’s top qualifier, finishing third overall with 590 points; she posted 197 in kneeling, 198 in prone and standing rounds of 97 and 98. Only two Chinese shooters recorded higher qualification scores than Sen.

Vidarsa Vinod recovered from a slow start to total 588, placing sixth in qualification; she scored 193 in kneeling, improved to 199 in prone and produced two consecutive 98s in the standing position, a performance that secured her place in the individual final.

Ashi Chouksey scored 196 in kneeling and 199 in prone, but opened the standing position with 93 before scoring 97 in her final standing round, finishing 15th on 585 and outside the top eight for individual qualification. Her tally, however, contributed to the team’s silver-medal total.

The individual final for the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions was scheduled to start at 9:30 am IST on the same day, with Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa Vinod set to compete for individual medals.

As of 26 September, India had won 25 medals at the Asian Games 2026 — a couple of golds, 11 silver and 12 bronze — with shooting cited among the country’s stronger sports at these Games.
