India to meet China in women's hockey final at Asian Games 2026 in Kakamigahara

India will play China in the women's hockey final at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Friday, October 2, at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Kakamigahara. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM local time (3:30 PM IST).
India reached the final after a 2-0 semi-final victory over South Korea on Wednesday and topped Pool B with five wins from five matches. China finished first in Pool A with five victories from five games and advanced to the final after a 0-0 semi-final with hosts Japan, winning 4-2 in the shootout. Both teams arrive at the decider unbeaten in the tournament.
In the semi-final against South Korea, India created several chances in the opening two quarters but were repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Seoyeon Lee before Ishika scored late in the third quarter. Captain Salima Tete then added a goal in the final quarter to secure the 2-0 win. That victory confirmed India’s place in the gold medal match.
China progressed through the tournament as defending champions and are described in reports as World No. 4, completing a perfect pool stage with five wins from five. Their semi-final required a shootout to separate them from Japan after a goalless 60 minutes, which they won 4-2. That result set up the final against India.
Sony Sports Network holds broadcast rights for the Asian Games in India; the final will be shown live on Sony Sports Ten 3, Sony Sports Ten 4 and Sony Sports Ten 5 SD/HD channels. The match will be streamed in India on the SonyLIV app and website with a required subscription. In Japan the Asian Games coverage is on TBS Television, while Naver will live-stream the tournament in South Korea and JTBC will televise it; SonyLIV and the Sony Sports Network will also stream the Games in Pakistan and across the Indian subcontinent.
The match at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium on Friday, October 2, is the women's hockey gold medal match at the Asian Games 2026. India will attempt to end a gold-medal drought in the event dating back to the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games.
