India to open 2027 Men's ODI World Cup against Australia on October 7; Pakistan clash set for Oct 10

India will begin their campaign in the men's ICC World Cup against defending champions Australia at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on October 7, tournament organisers announced on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The schedule for the competition was released by the world body on the same day.

Shubman Gill's men will meet arch-rivals Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on October 10. India are scheduled to play Afghanistan on October 14 at the Centurion (Pretoria now known as Tshwane), face a Qualifier in Bloemfontein on October 17, and meet co-hosts Zimbabwe at the newly constructed Victoria Falls Stadium on October 24.

Two semi-finals are scheduled for Cape Town and Centurion on November 17 and 18. The final is set for the Wanderers on November 21.
