India to open Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 against England in Ahmedabad on Oct 23 (Match 4)
India will kick off their Commonwealth Kabaddi Championship 2026 campaign against England in Match 4 at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad on Friday, October 23, with the game scheduled to start at 8:30 PM IST.
India arrive in Ahmedabad having won gold at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Iran in the final, but the squad named for the Commonwealth event is different from that success as several senior players have been rested to allow younger talent an opportunity; Surjeet Singh has been named captain with Naveen Kumar as his deputy. With Iran and Chinese Taipei not participating, India enter the tournament as one of the favourites, and supporters across the country will be watching the opening-day fixture closely.
India's squad for the match reads: Surjeet Singh (C), Ajit Pawar, Parvesh Bhainswal, Shubham Shinde, Yogesh Dahiya, Nitesh Kumar, Deepak Sankar, Sachin Tanwar, Naveen Kumar, Pankaj Mohite, Aditya Shinde, Shivam Patare, Bharat Hooda, Neeraj Narwal.
England's selected players for the encounter are: Felix Li (C), Milan Kaushal, Nayan Yuvraj Paresh Dabhi, Ahrujan Raghunathan, Alvin Jaison, George Wellington, Jai Patel, Kashyap Vijay Kumar, Mahesh Popat, Ahilan Parthipan, Nithushan Kohilathas, Yuvraj Pandeya.
Broadcast arrangements in India are being handled by the Star Sports Network, which holds the tournament rights, while live streaming will be available on JioHotstar and matches can also be followed on the Star Sports YouTube channel.
