India U15 defeated Cameroon U15 2-1 at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku, Azerbaijan in a Group K Matchweek 2 fixture of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival, extending Bibiano Fernandes’ side’s winning run. The result moved India to the top of Group K with six points after two matches.

Cameroon entered the match as Les Lionceaux Indomptables following a big win over Senegal in their previous game, while India had beaten Laos in Matchweek 1. Other Group K results on the night saw Senegal beat Grenada 6-1 and Bahrain draw 1-1 with Laos, leaving Bahrain unbeaten after two fixtures.

The Blue Colts opened the scoring through an early own goal by Fareil Ngobo (1′) and doubled their lead when R Lalremruatfela struck in the 27th minute, giving India a 2-0 advantage at one stage. Cameroon reduced the deficit later in the match to make the final score 2-1.

India goalkeeper Jenit Ningthoujam saved a penalty during the fixture, a stop credited with helping India secure their second consecutive victory. The penalty save proved decisive in preserving the narrow margin.

The win places India top of the Group K table with six points and the only team in the group with a 100% record after Matchweek 2. Senegal’s 6-1 victory over Grenada moved them to third place ahead of Cameroon, while Bahrain remain unbeaten following their draw with Laos.

India have another Group K fixture scheduled against Grenada on October 25, 2026, at 17:15 IST; a win in that match will solidify India’s stake in the top spot and qualify them for Tier A. India are also set to face Bahrain and Senegal in two deciding fixtures that will determine the group’s outcome.
