India U15 come from 0-2 down to beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 at FIFA U15 World Cup in Baku

India U15 produced a second-half comeback to beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-2 in the Round of 16 of the lower bracket (Tier C) at the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026 at the Hovsan Competition Complex Pitch 8A in Baku on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. After trailing 0-2 at half-time, the Blue Colts scored three times after the break to complete the turnaround.
India went into the interval two goals down after Jaylon Carrington opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Djoshua Cyrus added a second in the 18th minute. Victor Lalawmpuia scored twice in the 23rd and 25th minutes and R Lalremruatfela netted in the 29th to seal the win in the lower-bracket Round of 16.
India began the match on the front foot as a long pass from Soumojit Sarkar found R Lalremruatfela; his cutback was cleared and the loose ball fell to C Lalhmingropuia, whose first-time attempt was blocked on the goal line. C Lalhmingropuia then sent another first-time effort over the bar shortly afterwards.
Trinidad and Tobago struck first when Jaylon Carrington gathered a long ball, held off Indian defenders and struck a half-volley into the top corner. India continued to press and created several openings, with Lalawmpuia unable to adjust to a cutback and with Soumojit Sarkar testing goalkeeper Malachi Leach with a powerful half-volley.
Despite India’s pressure, Djoshua Cyrus doubled Trinidad and Tobago’s lead with a low drive from outside the box that beat Jenit Ningthoujam despite his reach. India threatened again before half-time when Lalremruatfela dragged a finish wide at the far post, leaving them two goals behind at the break.
The Blue Colts responded quickly after the restart: Lalremruatfela beat his marker on the left and sent in a low cross that Lalawmpuia finished in the 23rd minute, and Lalawmpuia struck again two minutes later after creating space inside the box. Nibas Meetei Wahengbam’s early cross from the right set up Lalremruatfela to slot home in the 29th, and India had further opportunities as Sarkar’s long-range effort was deflected wide in the 34th minute and Lalawmpuia dragged a chance wide two minutes later.
India managed the closing stages calmly to preserve the lead and register their first win in the tournament stage.
